Covid-19 Protocols

Currently, there are no COVID-19 restrictions.

However, COVID-19 still lingers in our community and, as we have experienced over the last three years, things can change rapidly.  As such, we need to be prepared for whatever guidance surfaces at the time of race day.  Currently, there are no mask or vaccine guidelines for any outdoor events in Washington State.  We are planning with this in mind but also making contingency plans in case we need to adjust.

We will continue to be transparent with all participants and share information if it changes.

What if Sound to Narrows is Canceled Due to Covid-19?

In the event that the 2023 event is canceled due to government covid regulations, we will be moving all registered participants to our virtual race.  Mailing all race packets at the end of May.  A 50% discount code will be emailed to those participants for use at a future race.

Where Can I Park?

We encourage carpooling, mass transit and bicycling to the start line.  If you must drive, please park in nearby neighborhoods, being mindful of neighbor’s driveways.

Are Dogs Allowed?

As much as we love our dogs, we kindly ask that you please keep them home on race day.

Are Strollers and Joggers Allowed?

Yes, although we ask that strollers/joggers start at the back of the pack to allow for safe starts for our 12k and 5k running groups. Also, please stay to the right so that non-stroller/jogger participants may safely pass. And as you enter the finish line area, please stay to the sides.

When Will My Items be Shipped?

Only those runners/walkers participating in the Virtual Sound to Narrows races will receive their packets in the mail.  Items will be shipped the first week in June.

Where Can I Pick-Up My Race Packet?

Packet Pick-Up will be at Tacoma’s Cheney Stadium on Thursday, June 8. 9am-7pm.  Grab your race day goods early to beat the crowds on race day. You may pick-up for friends and family members.  Thanks to our friendly volunteers for lending a hand on Packet Pick-up Day and to the Tacoma Rainiers for being our official PPU sponsor.  Go Team!

What Does Sound to Narrows Benefit?

Thanks for asking!  And yes, we’re happy to share that all proceeds will benefit MultiCare Academy for Students in Healthcare – Camp. We’ve always been about health and wellness for our South Sound community.  Now’s our chance to support our future nurses and allied health professionals like pharmacy, radiology and physical therapy.
